About Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl is a television series that ran for six seasons between 2007 and 2012 on The CW network that follows the lives of young, rich and privileged people who live in Manhattan’s Upper East Side in New York City. ‘Gossip Girl’ is a blogger who reveals secrets about their lives and Gossip Girl’s identity is finally revealed at the end.
While most TV series set in New York are filmed elsewhere, Gossip Girl locations in NYC are entirely real and set/filmed in landmarks, hotels, parks and restaurants of New York.

Stay Near The Filming Locations Gossip Girl
I stayed in JG Sohotel in Soho which I LOVED and had a metro station right outside and far away from the touristy Midtown. 1) Empire State Building
Iconic to New York, and iconic to Gossip Girl which is why I listed is first on this guide to Gossip Girl in New York locations! You will probably be going here on your NYC trip but if you want a great view of the skyline with the Empire State IN the background, head to the top of the Rock instead.
At the top of the Empire State is where Chuck waited for Blair with pink flowers as well as being a scene for many Gossip Girl transition shots.
‘Don’t Affair to Remember me’
2) Grand Central Station
Where it all started. The very first episode of the first season was filmed in Grand Central Station and Gossip Girl revealing that Serena is back! The balcony and steps where she is spotted has become one of the most visited Gossip Girl NYC locations (it’s very easy to get to and you’re probably going there anyway).

3) Pulitzer Fountain
Located outside The Park Plaza Hotel is a huge fountain that was used for gossip girl in NYC in Season 1 when Serena and Blair do a fashion shoot (Bad News Blair). This is a great scene to re-enact because the girls get some fun shots in front of this fountain.

4) The Lotte New York Palace Hotel
One of the most recognisable Gossip Girl residences is The Palace Hotel owned by the Bass family. This is where you will find many filming locations of Gossip Girl such as:
- The courtyard where many scenes were filmed
- Home of Lilly and Serena van der Woodsen (and later Humphreys)
- Bart and Chuck Bass Apartment
- Howard Archibald does a deal on the steps inside the hotel
- The Gossip Girl gang have brunches and drinks here
- The gang sit at the bar of GILT
- The entrance to the annual Cotillion Ball
When me and my sister were on our self-guided Gossip Girl NYC Tour, we were at The Palace Hotel courtyard when a lovely member of staff came out and asked us ‘are you here for Gossip Girl?’ and we’re like ‘yep, how did you know?’ and he’s like ‘I’m Maurice, come with me’.
Maurice was the best Gossip Girl tour guide and took us to lots of locations as bullet-pointed above and though he said he’d never seen an episode, he was so knowledgable and kind. Thanks Maurice!

5) Dylans Candy Bar
The largest candy store in the world owned by the daughter of Ralph Lauren and it’s, of course, located in New York City! So it’s one of the real Gossip Girl sites in NYC but only on one or two of the NYC Gossip Girl tour as the original store has closed but they have opened more stores in the city and in other cities.
The scene filmed here was when Dan and Vanessa shop for a present for Nate in Season 2 (Gone with the Will).
Fun fact: The film Hitch (starring Will Smith) was also filmed at Dylan’s!

6)The Met Steps AKA The Gossip Girl Steps!
This is probably the most famous Gossip Girl locations in New York City and very easy to find and re-enact your own scenes: will you wear a headband? tell someone to sit a few steps below? or embrace them? This was THE spot for the IT girls.
The Gossip Girl stairs are located at the entrance of The Metropolitan Museum of Art on the edge of Central Park and of course, on the Upper East Side!

7) Central Park: 4 NYC Gossip Girl Locations
- If you search for Gapstow Bridge, there is a pond below the bridge which is a Gossip Girl filming location where Blair fed the ducks
- In Central Park you’ll also find Bethesda Terrace which is the Chuck and Blair wedding location
- Wollman Rink is the famous Central Park Ice Rink where Blair is spotted skating
- One of the most popular Central Park things to do is the Bethesda Fountain which is a Gossip Girl site for many scenes as well as the park being used for jogging, Serena and Dan on a vespa, meetings and general Gossip Girl shooting locations
Fun fact: Very close by to Bethesda Fountain is the Cherry Hill Fountain which was the inspiration for the fountain in the opening credits of every episode of FRIENDS!

8) The Humphrey Loft in Brooklyn
Known affectionately as The Humphrey Loft Gossip Girl used an apartment building in Brooklyn for Dan, Jenny and Rufus’ home.
Of all the Gossip Girl places NYC, this is one of the best views and places to visit as it’s found in DUMBO and makes for a great morning visit after walking the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn.
If you start at The Humphrey Loft building and walk toward the water you get a great view of NYC and this was another Gossip Girl Filming spot because The Humphrey family play football on Thanksgiving in Gossip Girl here.

9) The Archibald Townhouse
The Archibald Townhouse is one of the Gossip Girl Upper East Side locations that portrays their lives so perfectly: grand, huge, expensive, parking available and easy to get to for rich people like them.
You’ll recognise the exterior as the home of Nate Archibald and his parents, Howard and Anne Archibald.
Nate’s townhouse is very easy to get to from Gossip Girl Met Steps so these two locations can be done in one!

The exterior of this museum was used throughout the show as the entrance to Constance Billard School and St. Jude School where the Gossip Girl girls and boys all attended respectively.

The Russian Tea Room is one of the finer New York Gossip Girl locations, located in Midtown where the Gossip Girl crew set up a classic scandal including Poppy as well as the real-life Upper East Sider counterparts frequenting here.

12) Veselka
Veselka is a Ukranian restaurant in the East Village open 24 hours a day! This Gossip Girl set is both mentioned throughout the show and filming takes place there in Season 4 because it’s a Dan favourite as well as the place where Blair dates Prince Louis because no-one will spot them there. B forgets she is always in Gossip Girl territory.

13) Ladurée
Laduree is the place where Blair gets her Macaroons and has become associated as a high-end bakery (with high-end prices). This is a classic example of Upper East Side Gossip Girl location and is a spot visited on many of the Gossip Girl NY tours!

14) King Cole Bar
A fancy Manhattan cocktail bar is located in the even more fancy St Regis Hotel and a filming location Gossip Girl used when Serena met her Professor for the best Red Snapper.
According to Google the bar is temporarily closed but you can still visit the hotel and see the place from outside.

15) Erin Mckenna’s Bakery (Babycakes NYC)
This was the bakery used as one of the Gossip Girl filming locations in NYC for the scene when Dan drops his pie while stopping Serena get into a car in Season 1 (Blair Waldorf Must Pie!).

(Aka The Chuck Bass Hotel New York)
This is the Chuck Bass Hotel Empire because it is the hotel that Chuck purchases in Season 3 and many scenes are filmed inside and outside here and is located on the Upper West Side.

This is the Gossip Girl bar where Serena and Nate betray Blair (also known as one of the Gossip Girl hot scenes).
Campbell Apartment is right next door to Grand Central Station so easy to pass by and visit two Gossip Girl places in NYC in one go.

Both inside and outside of St James’s Church was used as Gossip Girl filming locations NYC, most notably for when Blair marries Prince Louis (The St Regis Hotel was used as the reception venue for their wedding).
The church is located on the same street as other Gossip Girl locations NYC like Vera Wang (where Blair gets her wedding dress) and The Palace Hotel (where lots of the gang live).

22) Sotheby’s
Is this Gossip Girl site real? Yes it is! Filming took place here during Season 3 (The Lost Boy) for the auction scene where Chuck and Blair go head-to-head to bid for the same photo which in the end is won by Serena.
