Essentials Before Travel

  • Read the novels
  • Watch the movies
  • Follow my blog and head to Vancouver Island for the filming locations Twilight shot here!

About Twilight

Twilight Saga is a series of novels about Vampires and Werewolves written by Stephanie Myer that took the world by storm (and divided teenagers between Vampire Edward and Werewolf Jacob for the heart of protagonist, Bella). They were then made into movies and got even MORE popular.

I think there’s a moodiness in the Pacific North West that was perfect for the Twilight movies and Vancouver Island met the brief for the novel descriptions.

There are so many scenes shot at the beaches around Forks (the fictional town setting for Twilight) and I’m going to help you find one of them.

Read on for my directions and info on the Twilight filming locations Vancouver Island offers for many beach and running scenes.

The Twilight Beach Scene

For the first Twilight film, La Push is filmed in Ecola State Park, Cannon Beach, Oregon where they all go surfing and stories of Quileute legends are told.

For the following movies, however, the location of La Push Beach Twilight moved to Canada! Specifically on Vancouver Island.

The specific place for New Moon and Eclipse where Twilight was filmed for this blog post is called Long Beach located between Tofino and Ucluelet.

So, where was Twilight filmed?

The actual location of Twilight is a place called Incinerator Rock. It’s located on Long Beach, a 16km sandy beach on the West Coast of Vancouver Island in Canada.

  • Head toward the West Coast of Vancouver, using the Pacific Rim Highway and turn right toward Tofino.
  • About 15 minutes along the highway after turning right, you will see a sign for ‘Incinerator Rock’.
  • Turn left to find the car park.
  • Once you find parking, the actual Incinerator Rock and other rocks, logs and trees are adjacent to the washrooms at the end of the parking lot.
  • Step onto the sand and you will see the ocean, trees and rocks in the distance but just to the right will be the two large rock boulders where Bella and Jacob walk through before stopping to debate.
  • And here you are, another filming spot!

Note: The car park is relatively small in comparison to the huge beach behind so you may have to come early, or try a few times before you get a space.

The West Coast of Vancouver Island was used as multiple film locations for Twilight, not just the beach scene where Bella & Jacob discuss Jacob being a wolf.

Places in between the coastal towns of Ucluelet and Tofino were used as filming locations Vancouver Island for these scenes:

  • General shots in Eclipse when Victoria is running were throughout Twilight Tofino spots
  • Quileute tribe playing football and Jacob & Co discussing Imprinting in Breaking Dawn: Part 1 on a beach near Tofino Twilight fans will recognise
