Freshwater West Harry Potter and How to Find Dobby’s Grave

Freshwater West is the place filmed for ‘Shell Cottage on the outskirts of Tinworth’ from Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows book. It is used for the scenes where Bill and Fleur live and where Dobby takes the prisoners to from Malfoy Manor in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2.

The significance of Freshwater West Harry Potter though, is Shell Cottage filming location and the beach where Dobby dies and Dobby’s grave and that’s why most people travel to this area.

Shell Cottage Wales was used for filming scenes in both Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2 but was taken down straight after filming.

Where is Dobby Buried?

Before visiting Freshwater West beach, I searched where is Dobby buried and where is Dobby’s grave and while the beach name was everywhere, directions for the specific area wasn’t clear. It was time for a hunt and I did it without asking beach-goers!

In a nutshell, about a third way up on the beach where Dobby died, you’ll find, amongst sand dunes and long grass, memorials for Dobby’s grave.

Disrespectfully, the first stone that read ‘Here lies Dobby, a Free Elf’ was stolen and Dobby’s grave destroyed. If you’re still wondering is Dobby’s grave still there, have no fear because fans have placed dozens of tributes for Dobby’s grave.
