Saray Cardiff Review
Since 2015, the opening of Saray City Road has been home to delicious Turkish in Cardiff food. Looking for Turkish restaurant Cardiff City Road? You need to head to Saray and here’s why.
Saray Restaurant Cardiff Location
City Road has always had the best food in Cardiff and you’ll feel transported walking down this road to all over the world for Lebanese cuisine, South African food and Turkish food Cardiff has everything in City Road restaurants.
If you’re arriving at City Road from the town centre, Saray is a fair walk away as it’s at the end of City Road near Albany Road and Crwys Road. Keep going all the way past Tesco’s and it’s on the right before the traffic lights and before Keppoch Street.

What To Expect
As this is an authentic Turkish restaurant, alcohol is not served. For Halal food Cardiff has lots of options including Saray. Saray serves Halal food.
On arrival, you’re taken to your table with a menu and in good timing, the waiter comes to take your order. I always ask for my starter to come with the main food and they accommodate this request.
Then, you are brought warm bread, tzatki dip, spicy dip and olives. For free. Note this if you want to order dips as you can ask for them to remain on the table for your mains.
Next comes the table’s mains together which are always fresh, timely, hot and tasty.
Lastly, you are offered baklava and Turkish tea for afters. On the house. The baklava is small and sweet but just right and the tea comes in traditional vessels and is the perfect digestif. Told you this is the best place to go!
Saray’s own motto is ‘Expect the Best’ which they always deliver so say no more and book a table!
Did you know? Saray name meaning in Turkish is ‘palace’.
What To Eat / Saray Restaurant Menu
Saray Cardiff menu is packed with delicious options for your visit. There are starters, mains and desserts and I advise to order a starter and main (to arrive together). Note: All mains come with two sides such as chips, rice, half and half, or salad). Alternatively, go for a platter to share with someone else.
My recommended starter dish is the grilled prawns and my recommended main dish is the mixed Shawarma.

Atmosphere and Hospitality
There is a friendly vibe at Saray from the hustle and bustle at the entrance with deliveroo drivers and customers waiting for there takeaways to the chefs cooking away behind the counter and the floor staff finding a table, taking orders and welcoming you to the restaurant.
The interior is pretty with Turkish lamps adorning the tables and large murals on the walls.
The hospitality matches how you expect from a Turkish establishment. Incredible hospitality. Helpful and happy staff, delicious food and comfortable seating and arrangements.
