Why I Love My Kindle Fire 7 Review

Since I first took the plunge to buy a Kindle Fire 7, I have used it every single day.

I love my kindle because it’s almost like a comfort to me when travelling (as reading is to many of us) and I always feel better knowing I’ve got it with me. I can read on long-haul journeys, fire it open while waiting and to go to sleep. There are so many reasons why it was easy to write the pros for this Amazon Fire 7 review uk.

It has helped me while travelling because it’s lightweight, takes up hardly any room, can store hundreds of books and gives me notifications when my reading-list is on sale. My Kindle Fire 7 has also given me a new favourite past-time: browsing the online book store and adding to my Goodreads ‘want-to-read’!

My Kindle Fire 7 - A Review for Travellers

It’s the perfect device for travellers, book-lovers, budget-conscious readers and people who like to read more than one book at a time (guilty!).

I’ve also bought two more Kindle Fires as presents for my friend and partner and convinced my sister to choose it when winning a raffle prize selection of electronics! They’ve each thanked me for the recommendation and become Kindle-lovers too!

10 Reasons Why Every Traveller Needs a Kindle – Amazon Fire Tablet

Whether you travel long-term, move abroad or commute to work every day, a Kindle is for you. Even if you don’t read novels, an Amazon Fire 7 could be your answer to ‘which kindle fire should I buy?’ Here is my Amazon Fire 7 reviews and 10 reasons why every traveller needs a Kindle including how to get books for 99p!

1. It’s a space saver and lightweight

Gone are the days of lugging around three books because you’re a fast reader and you found them at a cheap bookshop and want to read them on the plane, the beach and in bed. With a Kindle, you can carry as many books as you want, all pages bookmarked and only need one device.

2. You have a personal and nomadic library with Amazon Fire 7

My Amazon Fire 7 can store hundreds of books and if I want to declutter at any time, I can archive my books and pull them out at anytime. My Amazon Fire Tablet is my nomadic library I take around the world. I like reading more than one book at a time and flitting between them so instead of carrying three books, I carry dozens at a time that I can pick up and close at any time. I love this feature.

Be sure to browse the current bestsellers in books for your device.

If you change your kindle, all of your books/apps/settings automatically apply to your new device.

3. Kindle Store: Kindle Fire 7 Review

The Kindle Store is a toy shop for bookworms! As I said before, my new hobby is browsing the Amazon store and looking for different genres of books, reading summaries and adding to my wish-list (see below). You can add your amazon account and buy books straightaway to read. Not only books though, you can get magazines too!

4. Smart settings when reading

The smart settings on a Kindle is one the best reasons why you should buy an e-reader! To name a few there’s:

  • Blue shade which adjusts your eyes when reading at night to help with sleep on an Amazon Fire 7
  • Dictionary already added so you can highlight any word for its meaning
  • Bookmark saves your page
  • Highlighter and Notes for writing book reviews, if you’re studying, part of a book club of something has struck you
  • Percentage of book left tells you how far into a book you are and how many hours/minutes it will take to finish based on your previous reading times

5. Kindle Fire 7 has the Internet

Some Kindles are used for reading only but the Kindle Fire 7 has internet access which means not only bookstore but can play games, get social media apps and surf the web.

If you’re looking for a Kindle for kids, there is an unlimited option you can trial and then subscribe to which has educational promotions, kid-friendly environment, kid-friendly games and parental control!

You can get 1 month free trial of Fire for Kids Unlimited here:

6. Goodreads

Goodreads is an app created for all book-lovers. You can connect with people around the world about books. It has three shelves: Read, Currently Reading and Want-to-Read. You can categorise your books by tags and genres, create reading challenges and keep track, get recommendations based on your reading and review/star every book you read. Follow me on Goodreads!

My want-to-read list is always there and I can add at anytime if an interesting book comes on an advert or comes up in conversation, it’s saved for later.

Your Kindle Fire 7 is connected to Goodreads so when you start a new book, you can click ‘currently reading’ and it updates the app.

7. Amazon Wishlist

I add to my Wishlist and check my Wishlist every single day. It’s the first thing I do when I unlock my Kindle. Note: Kindle Fire 7 is password-protected.

Every book I search and want to read, I add to my Wishlist for the future and here is my trick for how to get books for 99p. I go into my wish lists and sort them from low price-high price and any of the books I have saved when they go down to 99p, I buy them. Some books have flash sales so are only 99p for one day whereas others stay on sale for a while. Every item also tells you how much the price has dropped since it was first added to the list.

I get recommendations personalised to me as well as browsing different genres and I search the Amazon Charts everyday too.

8. Rechargeable and Long-lasting Battery

Kindles come with a charger to a USB and plug but the battery lasts a long time if you’re not using the Internet all day. Mine takes about 2 hours to charge fully and once it is charged, if I only read and browse my Wishlist, can last about 3 days. It notifies you when the battery gets low and you can activate low-saver mode.

9. Review of Kindle Fire 7: A Tablet and E-reader in One!

How much is a Kindle Fire 7 worth? The cost of an Amazon Fire 7 is around £50 (correct at time of writing) but you’re not just getting a library. The Kindle Fire 7 is more like a tablet because it has the functions of a camera, App Store, games, amazon prime video, Amazon store, internet access, calculator, Audible books, time, weather and more!

10. Kindle Unlimited on Amazon Fire Tablet

This is an addictive little feature that I’ve subscribed to on and off for a while. Once you get a Kindle, you need to get Kindle Unlimited because there are thousands of books that you can read for free, free magazines and news stands as well as try out Audible on some books. It really is worth it and every book has a ‘Kindle Unlimited’ tag so you can read for free.

Cons of a Kindle Fire 7 Review

In my honest opinion, and you may not find in other reviews of kindle fire, here are some cons to a Kindle Fire are as follows:

  • It technically adds to your overall screen time which has been debated that we use far too much.
  • You may feel less connected to what your reading and not receiving that intimacy you get with page-turning.
  • It has access to the internet and could be distracting from your book.
  • Kindle Fire 7 can be difficult to see in sunlight.
  • Of course, it takes away the fun of looking for a book in different bookstores.
