How to Get to Marjan Hill Viewpoint | Hiking Marjan Hill Split, Croatia

The Marjan Hill hike is an absolutely must-do while in Split, Croatia. It is located in the popular Marjan Park to the West of Split and one of the best views of the city and Adriatic Sea is by hiking Marjan Hill in Split.

After doing the hike myself I thought I’d write a guide to help others so you don’t miss these great views. Read on for how to get to Marjan Hill viewpoint!

  • Where is Marjan Hill Split Croatia? To the West of Split is the large Marjan Hill park which is a forested park to enjoy scenic viewpoints, botanical gardens, jogging/walking trails and picnic spots.
  • Is there Marjan Park parking? Next to the Riva in Split is car park spaces where you can park before starting this route. There is a road that leads to the top of the hill so you can drive a car or bike to the top too.
  • What is the Marjan Hill hike time? This Marjan Hill walking route will take about 25/30 minutes to get from the bottom to the top but allow yourself 40/45 minutes each way for comfort as it’s fairly steep.

Split Marjan Hill

This is one of the best places for hiking near Split Croatia Old Town and you get amazing views at the top. Located in Marjan Park Split is home to hills and this is a fairly easy hike for all levels of fitness.

Step by Step Guide for How To Get To Marjan Hill Viewpoint

These are my detailed instructions to reach the Marjan Hill Split viewpoint.

Address for starting point:

1. Start at this sign

2. Walk up the steps

3. Get to the restaurant and here you can see some views over Split

4. Find this hill with brown fences and walk through and to the top

5. You come to St Nicholas Church which looks like this:

6. Stay to the right hand side of the church and turn right

7. Follow these steps all the way up and around to the top

8. You’ll see this sign at the top:

9. Stay on the path and walk past it so it’s on your left

10. Then turn left at the kids park

11. Turn right and keep going on the same path

12. At this sign for 314 steps, walk the steps to the top

13. You’ll see the Croatian flag and walk the last few steps and you’re at the top.

Walk around the area for panoramic views and enjoy the beautiful sunset like I did.

Retrace your hike step for step to get back down which always takes a bit quicker but look up because the views are stunning especially if the sun is setting and the colours over the city are so pretty.

  • It is so peaceful at the top.
  • You get the best views of the city.
  • You can hear the occasional Abba song coming from the passing boats on their way to Mamma Mia locations!
  • There are spots to watch the sunrise,
  • And spots to see the gorgeous Marjan Hill sunset.
  • It is a break from the harbour/ocean/city vibe of Split.
  • Hiking to the top of somewhere is always a great feeling!
